About
Dreams...
About
the importance of understanding our dreams

Dreams
can be messages of things about to happen. By learning the symbols of
the dreams, we can get a feel of what's coming.
I
have found that my dreams will manifest its meaning within one month
of the dreaming. Usually, the dreams with strong messages are long
and elaborate.
Over
time, it has appear to me that the personality is not the one
planning. The 'thinking/intention/planning' is occuring at a higher
level of the subconscious mind. That could be why, the dreams events
occurs in physicality after a while.
Dreams
are messages from soul level. Also it appears to me that the
subsconscious mind is a thoughtform storehouse. Our unknown thought
patterns are stored there, carried for lifetimes. It is those
thoughtforms/impulses inside there that gives us the experiences
(good/bad) in our life.
A
concise guideline to Dream Interpretation
This
article is a concise description of the method of dream
interpretation that I use. There are some points/guidelines to note.
1.
The dreams are often symbolic representations of what we are
experiencing or are about to experience. Often, the symbolisms
embedded in the dream will manifest in physicality within a few
months or earlier.
2.
Usually the people that we meet in the dream symbolizes the different
aspects of ourselves. For example: a woman may represent a feminine
aspect and a man vice versa.
3.
Often how we feel and the emotions we felt during the dream reveal
and convey much about the meaning of the symbols.
It
should be taken into account the possibility that the symbols may
hold certain semantics and meaning that are specific to
individuals. Therefore there are no hard and fast rules. Our innate
intuition often comes in handy when interpreting dreams.
If
one is clairvoyant or is a meditator, the symbolisms of dreams are
applicable to the images and visions experienced during meditations.
The
unconscious and less-known aspects of self
Quoting
from Carl Jung,
Everyone
carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s
conscious life, the blacker and denser it is.
At all counts, it
forms an unconscious snag, thwarting our most well-meant intentions.
(Rebeca
Eigen, 2000, http://www.shadowdance.com/shadow/theshadow.html)
As
our awareness expands through spiritual practices (including dream
interpretation), we are often confronted with previously-unknown
aspects of ourselves. These aspects are our hidden unconscious
aspects.
Very
often, these unconscious aspects will appear in our dreams as
distinct characters. If we can recognise them, we can 'integrate'
them. Recognising them could mean understanding how it feels like
when we are as these characters.
These
characters can sometimes take on the form of somebody we know or they
can also appear as total strangers in the dream. When they take the
form of somebody we know, they sometimes are mirroring qualities in
us that are reflected as that somebody we know. Again, there's no
hard and fast rules, and here's when intuition comes in handy in
getting accurate interpretations.
Multi-level
layers of meanings
Our
dreams can have and often have multi-layers of meanings. That is,
apart from relating to us at the individual level, dreams oftens have
group implications as well.
From
my findings, these group level implications can include the following
types:
Family
level interpretations
Organisation
level
National
level
Regional
level
Global
level
What
are the advantages of having a Dream Diary?
More
often than not, we cannot remember the details of our dreams. Our
dreams and the messages that they convey are subjected to the mercy
of our memories. Having a diary ensures that we learn from our
dreams. With each successive analysis of our dreams, we grow in
understanding of our deep inner nature.
Therefore
keeping a dream diary is not just child's play, but a significant aid
for exploring ourselves and the journey of life.
